In 1971 John Joseph McDonald bought a 2,500 square foot bar called the Cheboygan. John changed the name from the Cheboygan Bar to Sand Pebbles Bar and Grill. In 1972 John expanded Sand Pebbles to over 5.000 square feet and because most of the family were Detroit Fire Fighters and very proud of their profession and Fire Fighters being known for their great cooking, decided to change the name to The Firehouse Lounge. John's youngest son, Gary McDonald eventually bought out his two brothers and remained in partnership with his father.

In 2005 Gary McDonald sold his interest in The Firehouse Lounge. With the restaurant business being in his blood Gary then bought a little sports bar on Groesbeck Hwy. and Cass Avenue in Clinton Twp. and named it Gary Mac's Upscale Dive. When another successful restaurant named The Flying Machine became available he and his wife, Jenny bought that and changed the name to The Firehouse.

Gary McDonald and his wife Jenny now own and operate both establishments. He brought to the new Firehouse the same great food and terrific service that The Firehouse on 16 and Harper was known for. Great atmosphere, great service and great food and drink all add up to one thing - a really great time!

We invite you all to come in and enjoy yourselves and join The Firehouse Family!

Sincerely,

Gary and Jenny McDonald, Owners.
